Pizza Recipies and Cooking Method
Detroit-Style Pizza
Detroit-Style pizza is a unique and delicious take on traditional pizza, originating from the Motor City. Known for its thick, airy crust, crispy edges, and distinctive rectangular shape, this pizza has gained a loyal following far beyond Detroit. The dough, which is soft and light on the inside yet crispy on the outside, is a standout feature. It’s baked in a well-oiled pan, which helps achieve its signature caramelized cheese crust.
Unlike other styles, the cheese for Detroit-Style pizza is spread to the very edges of the pan, creating a crispy, cheesy border. The pizza is traditionally topped with pepperoni, which is placed directly on the dough, followed by a generous layer of Wisconsin brick cheese. This cheese melts perfectly, creating a rich, gooey texture. A robust tomato sauce is then ladled over the cheese in racing stripes, ensuring every bite is flavorful.
Detroit-Style pizza is perfect for those who love a thick, hearty slice with a crispy, cheesy crust. It’s an indulgent treat that offers a delightful contrast of textures and bold flavors. Whether enjoyed at a local pizzeria or made at home, Detroit-Style pizza is a satisfying and memorable culinary experience.
